Is Varsity Slate free?
Yes. Browsing requires no account: schedules, live scores, standings, and rankings are open to everyone, with no ads. A free account adds the personal layer — follow one school and one sport, get game start, final score, and close game alerts, and create per-team and per-school calendar feeds. Free is the product, not a trial.
What do the paid plans add?
Paid plans are about breadth, not access. Teammate ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) follows up to five schools with every sport they play, and adds the Game Day Trips planner. Head Coach ($49.99/year, annual only) removes the school limit entirely. Nothing is ever paywalled just to check a score.
How do I cancel?
Anytime, in about three taps: Settings → Billing → Manage subscription opens Stripe's secure billing portal, where you can cancel, switch plans, or update your card. Your plan stays active through the period you already paid for, and your account simply drops back to the free tier afterward — nothing is deleted.
When am I charged?
Checkout runs through Stripe. Monthly plans bill on the same date each month; annual plans bill once a year ($29.99 for Teammate — about 50% less than paying monthly — or $49.99 for Head Coach). Promo codes are supported at checkout, and prices are in US dollars.
Do I need an account or credit card to browse?
No account and no card. Every schedule, score, and school page is open to everyone. You only create a free account when you want Varsity Slate to remember your teams — and only enter a card if you upgrade to a paid plan.
Does the free plan show ads?
No. Varsity Slate has no ads at any tier — free included — and no autoplay video. Paid plans exist to follow more schools, not to remove ads.
